Biden: ‘Legitimate’ for voters to weigh age as he nears 80

President Joe Biden joked that it is tough to accept that he would soon reach 80, but he stated that he is physically and psychologically capable of serving a second term in the White House.

Biden, who will turn 80 on November 20, stated that it is “absolutely valid” for people to ask whether someone of his age can handle the tremendous rigors of the presidency. Biden made the remark in response to a query about his age during a Sunday-airing MSNBC interview.

Polls indicate that Americans would prefer not to witness a rematch with Donald Trump, the Republican defeated by Joe Biden in 2020. He stated that voters should decide for themselves whether he is up to the challenge.

On Inauguration Day in January 2025, Biden would be 82 years old, while Trump would be 78.

A recent poll conducted by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research reveals that just approximately one-third of respondents want Biden or Trump to run for president in two years. 5 of 10 Democrats want Biden to run for re-election, while 6 of 10 Republicans want Trump to run for re-election.

“I believe the best way to judge is through observing me. Am I decelerating? Am I maintaining the same speed?” Biden stated in an interview filmed on Friday during a visit to the campus of Delaware State University to support his executive order to cancel student loan debt.
